Transfer from apt. to Sabina, a rather unknown, very picturesque hilly area north east of Rome, a land of gently hills clad with olive groves which produce a exquisite extra virgin olive oil, one of the best produced in Italy and the first in Italy to get DOP certification.
On arrival there will be olive oil session with an expert on a very scenic, epoch farm located in the middle of olive groves incl. visit to an olive oil mill and guided olive oil tasting to learn about olive oil “organolettiche” characteristics . At the end, you will be treated to a buffet of typical dishes where olive oil plays an important role, including the famous local bruschetta, (local bread grilled uniformly till golden, rubbed with clove garlic, drizzled with olive oil, salted and can be topped with a chopped fresh ripe tomato with basil). You will also have a chance to take pictures of “ Ulivone”, an olive plant which is over 2000 years old.
Dinner in an elegant, de charme restaurant in the characteristic Testaccio quarter based on taste mouth-watering typical dishes. There we will explain what the “fifth quarter” cuisine means and its history. You will also visit restaurant’s interesting wine cellar excavated in the mountain of Roman amphorae ( the whole quarter has been built on top of a mountain formed by millions of Roman amphorae).
Visit to the famous, colorful, fruit & vegetable and flower open-air market at Piazza Campo de’Fiori, with a stop en route for a typical Roman breakfast : cornetto crossiant or maritozzo (soft buns with raisins and candied orange peels; can be enjoyed plain or filled with fresh cream) and cappuccino.
“Hands-on” cooking lesson focusing on pasta will follow.
You will learn how to prepare typical Roman pasta such as Amatriciana spaghetti (or bucatini) pasta, an ancient Sheppard’s dish; carbonara pasta; spaghetti “ajo e ojo” - simple but so gratifying, with its fiery mix of olive oil, garlic and chilli pepper).
Lunch featuring pasta prepared during the event followed by salad.
A private visit to one of the most luxurious Roman mansion, one of the world’s most beautiful palatial dwellings, owned by a princess . There, every detail still recalls the fabulous atmosphere of past banquets and receptions organized by aristocratic families.
A captivating narrative will reveal the secrets of these receptions, the food served, the mores, the anecdotes, etc. etc. etc.
There will also be a guided visit to the famous “ Torrefazione” with coffee tasting.
Dinner will be at an elegant, de charme restaurant, one of Rome’s TOP restaurants.
Overnight stay in the hotel.
Morning visit to one of the best wineries in Castelli Romani wine district followed by a guided wine tasting, including Cannellino late harvest white wine.
Lunch will be at an elegant, de charme restaurant in Frascati, one of the best on Rome’s outskirts, featuring traditional dishes from the Castelli Romani wine district such as
“ crostino alla provatura” – a special bread grilled with fried cheese and anchovies topping; home made “ fettuccine ribbon pasta” with typical ragout sauce and “ Cacio e pepe” spaghetti ( seasoned with cheese and black pepper) and much more.
The afternoon continues to the airport. End of our services.
