Late morning arrival to Naples apt., Meet & Greet by our Tour Leader and transfer in a deluxe bus to Naples.
On arrival, stop for a coffee and “ sfogliatella” in a famous, elegant, historic Café, followed by guided city tour.
Lunch will take place in a famous pizzeria where the group will sample different types of pizza and learn what a DOC certified pizza is.
After lunch check into hotel.
Late afternoon departure for a guided walk in Naples which fascinated travellers from every nook and cranny of the world in the 16th and 17th century.
Dinner in an elegant, de charme restaurant where you will taste some of the historical dishes which were served for the Royal court, such as minestra maritata , ragu di carne, sartu di riso, babà ( sponge cake steep in rum syrup), etc. etc. These are still being prepared in many homes as well as in some of the best restaurants following ancient recipes and rules. An expert will accompany you during the meal narrating the history of the dishes and some other epochal habits.
Return to hotel for overrnight.
Naples. BB in hotel and then departure for a full day guided wandering along the Amalfi Coast, visiting Amalfi, magical Ravello and Villa Ruffolo ( where Wagner got the inspiration for one of the most evocative scenes in his “ Parsifal”, the meeting between the hero and the beauteous Kundry), exclusive Positano and tiny Cetrara. At Cetara you will discover colatura, an Italian version of fish sauce related to garum , the ancient Romans’ seasoning based on fermented anchovies.
Lunch in a typical de charme country inn featuring savoury and popular local dishes based on fresh catches, including dishes prepared with colatura.
During the day you will also visit lemon groves near Amalfi and stop by the producer of " Limoncello” where you will taste this exquisite liquor, served iced in small glasses .
Return to Naples for time at leisure.
Cheese tasting in an elegant “Enoteca” ( wine shop for connoisseurs/ wine bar ) accompanied by selection of fruit preserves and the best wines from the region.
Return to hotel for the overnight stay.
Naples. BB in hotel, then transfer to the little town of Gragnano where the ancient art of making pasta from durum wheat has a very long tradition – dating back to more than 500 years ago. The local pasta is really one of the best in Italy and has a very special taste thanks to the locally prepared semolina and spring water from the area. It’s also slow-dried due to Gragnano’s climatic characteristics ( much slower than commercial pasta and sun-drying pastas) and bronze die. All this makes the final product very, very special. You will visit a pasta factory where you will learn all the secrets of this pasta and will watch local ladies working.
Lunch featuring different types of pasta will follow.
You will also get some local recipes and tips on how to cook pasta the correct way.
An afternoon transfer to Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio follows where a very interesting winery is located along the slopes of a volcano.
The company cultivates vine which grow on a land with the most unique characteristics in the world, where volcano lava and clay/pug endows its wine with unmistakeable properties and perfume. You will taste local wine such as Lacryma Christi and Gragnano guided by an oenologist. Other wines available for tasting include some traditional Campani wine such as Taurasi, Aglianico, Falanghina, Greco di Tuffo and Fiano all originating from the company’s vineyard located in the provinces of Avellino and Benevento.
To cap it all, visit one of the most famous Vesuviane Villas “MIGLIO D’ORO” which is part of a magnificient 17th century complex of residences, constructed between the countryside and the coast of the gulf of Naples by some famous historical architects – Vanvitelli, Fuga, Sanfelice and Vaccaro. Wonderful works of the late baroque era which often tend to the rococo and neoclassic style.
Seafood dinner in an elegant, de charme 2 Michelin starred restaurant located in a 7th century Saracen watching tower along the coast about one hour drive from Naples. It will be hosted by one of the most famous Italian chefs. You will sample his exquisite Mediterranean dishes, combining traditional and modern cuisine, creativity and ideas.
Afterwards, return to the hotel for the overnight stay.
